Emgard FE 75W90 axle fluid - maximized performance, minimized fuel consumption
Manufacturers of heavy-duty truck axles and differentials need axle fluids that deliver superior performance, optimum protection and extended drain intervals. But another criterion is increasingly becoming a key factor for their market success: improving fuel economy. Cognis Functional Products now offers the new fuel economy axle fluid Emgard FE 75W90. It enables manufacturers of heavy-duty axle products to meet the demand for commercial vehicles with reduced fuel consumption.
Emgard FE is an innovative synthetic axle lubricant which enables truck builders and heavy-duty drive line manufacturers to lower the fuel consumption of their vehicles. Three separate performance tests have demonstrated the ability of the fluid to gain fuel savings of 1.4 percent compared to the use of conventional mineral-oil based solutions. Combined with Cognis’ synthetic transmission lubricant Emgard 2979, trucks can save even more fuel: tests have shown that over 2 percent are realistic. Formulated from a synthetic base stock with a high viscosity index and a low pour point, Emgard FE provides superior year-round performance in all climatic conditions. The excellent lubricating and low temperature properties mean less friction and drag in the transmission, resulting in a significant potential for improving fuel economy.
The new product has earned Dana Corporation’s SHAES 256 (formerly known as Eaton PS-163) and ArvinMeritor’s (formerly Rockwell) approval for extended warranty drive axles operating on 500,000-mile drain intervals. By meeting the latest specifications of these axle fabricants, Cognis enables original equipment manufacturers to offer their customers a five-year/750,000-mile warranty.
Jim Casey, Business Director Compounded Lubricants Cognis Corporation says: “Compared to traditional mineral-based gear oils, our approved Emgard products offer superior protection for all hard-working torque-carrying components such as gears, bearings, and shafts under a wide range of operating conditions. In addition, the improved fuel economy and extended drain intervals help lower the cost in a variety of drive types, while enhancing axle performance and increasing vehicle operational time.”
Emgard – compliance with the latest environmental and industrial standards
Emgard is a range of fully synthetic, high-performance lubricants designed for both heavy-duty drive line and industrial applications. It includes custom-designed, fully formulated, ready-to-use solutions for gearboxes, transmissions and axle oils, as well as synthetic lubricants for medium and heavy-duty trucks. Because Emgard products have a lifecycle up to 50 percent longer than conventional lubricants, maintenance intervals and component life are also extended, meaning that vehicles have less downtime and manufacturers can offer longer warranties. These products deliver consistent performance in all weather conditions, in temperatures from -40°C to 40°C (-40°F to 104°F) and their constant viscosity results in improved wear protection at low temperatures, reduced fuel consumption, and a lower horsepower loss. As well as delivering superior performance at a lower cost, the Emgard range is also environmentally sound and significantly reduces wastage and the amount of waste oil. Cognis Synthetic lubricants are designed with the OEMs for extreme performance applications. Cognis products are available for rebranding.
